So, you've made the head, what about the rest?

It's very easy. You've mastered the art of making bubbles, twisting the balloon and putting it all together. All you need to do is apply the skills you've just picked up to making the body, legs and feet. Easy.

Heh.

head & neck
So, the head is done, assuming all your ears stayed together and you twisted your bubbles in the same direction each time. Next, the head bone's connected to the - neck bone. Or something similar, at any rate. You need to create a neck for your lil doggy, so make a 2-inch bubble, and twist & hold it.

Next, make another 2-incher, followed by two little half-inch bubbles (more like little balls, really). The piccy just shows one, just to give you an idea of how small these are. Yes, this dog's balls are very small - ho ho ho.

In fact, these are his feet, and what will let him balance & stand up unaided.

legs & feet

Like when you made the ear twist around the nose, pinch together the twist from neck to leg and twist together (like we did last summer...). Congratulations - you now have the head and legs! If you've gotten this far without it exploding or coming unravelled, you're doing very well and the rest of this will be a breeze.

head, neck, front legs

So, now you have the front half of the body - unless you're making a mermaid-type thing - and a fairly long remainder of balloon. So, all you need to do is apply the skills you have already picked up to do the back end.

Basically, you make the body by twisting about 3 inches down the balloon. You then make the rear legs in a similar way to how you made the front legs (2 inch bubble, 1/2 inch, 1/2 inch, 2 inch, twist together), and with a little bit of adjustment to get the legs & feet in alignment, you can now get the little doggy to stand on his own four paws.

wahey! whey! etc
So, there you go. You have your little standing up doggy - but his tail doesn't look all that interesting, does it? Well, we can fix that, no problem.
You can see that there is a fair bit of uninflated balloon left over, so you can squeeze a bubble of air into there to make the end puff up. However, this isn't very easy; the easier way is to (*ahem*) put the end in your mouth and suck hard. I'm sorry, there really isn't any other way of putting it! Once the end has inflated in your mouth, pinch the uninflated bit and pull it out, stretching it as you go.

Et voila! Your very own stand up doggy.

Here endeth lesson two. Lesson one is right here. Or if you're sick of this, you can always pack it in and go home.
